We went to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons! A few days surrounded by nature and wildlife were fantastic.

We made it out to New Zealand just before the Coronapocalypse. We went hiking, sailing, relaxed at the beach, saw lots of wildlife, and overall had a great time.

August 2019

We made it to Africa, our 6th continent. Our main goal was to hike Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa and thus one of the Seven Summits. While we were in the neighborhood, we went on safari in the Serengeti and saw incredible wildlife!

Late summer we spent a bunch of time in the four corners area and visited a few places we hadn't yet been to, like House on Fire. We also made it for another couple days at Rocky Mountain NP.

Spring was a great chance to visit some of the California national parks that we hadn't made it to yet: Sequoia, King's Canyon, and Redwoods. All of these featured really big trees, but otherwise were really different. We also spent a weekend down in San Diego.

We took a long weekend trip down to LA, Palm Springs, and Joshua Tree NP. We did some backcountry camping at Joshua Tree, which was a much more pleasant setting than the cramped campgrounds.

December 2018

We did a two week road trip through southern Florida, starting at Sanibel Island, heading down through the Everglades all the way to Key West, and then back up to Siesta Key. Great wildlife, great beaches, all around a great time.

We spent a few days hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Late October was a bit of a gamble with the weather, but it paid off big time.

We made it to the Great Barrier Reef. The coral was incredible. We also spent a few days on land searching for some iconic Australian wildlife, and were successful in seeing platypuses and koalas in the wild.

We went to Scotland for a conference, and then stuck around for another week to tour around a bit. We made it to some beautiful landscapes and to a puffin nesting ground.

We took a couple of trips in the early part of the year within California: over to Monterey, and down to Newport Beach in order to sail out to Santa Catalina Island.

A winter trip to the Arctic to see the northern lights. It was a huge success.

A roundup of a few small summer adventures: Charleston S.C., the total solar eclipse, and a lot of sailing in the SF Bay.

Our first trip to Alaska! We spent the first third seeing wildlife and mountains at Denali national park. The second third we went bear watching inside Lake Clark national park. And the final third was spent kayaking among icebergs in the Kenai Fjords national park.

We had the wonderful opportunity to spend the entire month of March in Israel. We spent the weekends out touring the many sites of the Holy Land. We also made it over to Petra, home of the Holy Grail.

Our first trip to Hawai'i took us to Maui. We've never seen so many turtles while snorkeling, and it was also peak whale season. And we hiked a volcano and saw some cute birds.

We'd already been to Yosemite and to Point Reyes, but made it back for more over a couple of late Summer weekends. Yosemite to hike Half Dome, and Point Reyes to see the lighthouse.

Our last two weekend trips of the summer took us to Arizona and Seattle.

A conference took us to the lovely island of Sardinia, where we had a chance to see some Roman ruins and play in the Mediterranean.

After years on top of the places-to-go list, we finally made it to Machu Picchu. We were able to hike the Inca trail in, which was a beautiful hike with an incredible destination.

The Spring saw more visits around California: Death Valley, Point Reyes, and the king of them all, Yosemite. The winter rains made for a spectacular spring, with a superbloom in Death Valley and waterfalls all over Yosemite.

This last fall and early part of the winter we did alot of exploring around California, up and down the coast from SF.

The heart of the west! In the last couple months we made it out to Utah and got to see something I've wanted to see for a long time - Monument Valley in the snow. We also made a weekend trip to see something else that has been on the list, the Alamo!.

One last trip to Europe before moving across the country! My work on fsTimer put me in contact with someone at CERN, who offered to arrange a tour if I was ever in the area, so Geneva was the first stop. We toured around Lake Geneva for a few days, and then hit the top sites of Italy (except Venice, which we'll have to go back for someday).

We had a chance to escape from the worst winter ever to get down to the Caribbean for a week. This year it was the beautiful island of CuraƧao, where we saw turtles, sting rays, squid, and lots and lots of fish.

A few weeks in central/eastern Europe. I went to Prague for a conference, and wanted to visit Romania while we were on that side of the world. This involved driving through Slovakia, and since I figured the odds of ending up in Slovakia again were pretty low we should spend a few days and see what's there! Which was a great idea.

I spent the summer working at IBM in Westchester NY. This meant lots of trips down to the city (which I hadn't really done for 7 years).

Jan 2013

Tickets to Belize were cheap this winter, so we took the opportunity to visit the Mayan ruins in Belize and Guatemala, something I've been wanting to do for about 10 years. We visited two sets of ruins in Belize and two sets in Guatemala, including 3 whole days at the incredible Tikal. We then also spent some time in the Caribbean waters off the coast of Belize.

I finally made it to Canada! We went on a roadtrip through Quebec province, stopping in Montreal and Quebec City. They are both nice cities, with a distinct foreign feel due to everything being in French.
