August 2019 - The Serengeti

The final days of our safari in the Serengeti (see the start here). On day 4, with much patience, we saw a crocodile attack on the Mara. It was intense. And we saw more lions, cheetahs, elephants, and all the other incredible Serengeti wildlife!

At the bottom right, a crocodile zipped over and started watching! The wildebeest saw him and some looked pretty wary.

The croc submerged, and for a couple minutes the herd just kept crossing as they had been

The attack! The crocodile's head is visible, with a young wildebeest caught in his jaws.
The nearby wildebeest became frantic when the attack happened. The croc dragged its catch under water until just the horns were visible and held it there for the rest of the crossing.

It's really a beautiful river to have such a nickname as river of death!

Flying out of the Serengeti
Flying over the southern Serengeti - a barren wasteland this time of year!
A little outside the Serengeti is the Mountain of God. No doubt about it being a volcano!
