Birds About
May 2015 - Rome, Italy

Our trip to Rome included (here) the Pantheon, and some of the broader sites around Rome: Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Piazza Navona, Largo di Torre Argentina, and the Altare della Patria. The Pantheon was brilliant - though I would have loved much more to have seen it before it was vandalized by the church.

The Pantheon's incredible dome
The icon above the altar is from 609 A.D., a gift from Byzantine emperor.
The most beautiful marble floors I've ever seen

A 3000 year-old obelisk in front of the Pantheon, a beauty that badly clashes with the pope's stamp on the bottom and the cross on the top
The Trevi fountain, under some serious renovation
The Spanish steps, very popular

Largo di Torre Argentina, near the place where Julius Caesar was assassinated
Part of the old city wall, right around the corner from where we stayed

Randomly around town, a beautiful mosaic with the great Christmas inscription "Gloria in excelsis Deo et in terra pax ominibus bone voluntatis"
I was very surprised to see a parrot flying around Rome

Can't look more Italy than that
