Birds About
May 2015 - Rome, Italy

The remnants of the Empire: The forum (featuring many arches and monuments), the Palatine hill, and the Appian Way. I was particularly excited to see Trajan's column, which celebrates his victory over the Dacians at Sarmizegetusa, the ruins of which we visited a few years ago. Having seen the city ruined by Trajan, it was exciting to see the side of the victors. Not pictured here, off of the Appian Way we made a visit to the early Christian catacombs, which was a really neat experience.
