Birds About
September 2018 - North Queensland

We headed down to Townsville with the hope of seeing koalas on Magnetic Island (pictures of that here), and had some time on the mainland. We went to the Billabong sanctuary to pet koalas (as a from of insurance in case we were unsuccessful in seeing them in the wild on Magnetic). They're adorable and it was totally worth it. That morning we also saw some (wild) wallabies, and a few more endemic birds. We flew from Townsville back to Cairns for our flight back to the US. The flight from Townsville to Cairns flies directly over the Great Barrier Reef, and it was really cool to see it from the air.
