January 2017 - Maui

Part 2 of a week in Maui - the west side. Part 1 (the south side) is here. Some great snorkeling, including a sighting of a very mean looking octopus. We also saw some really great birds, and went whale watching. Multiple breaches right next to the boat, during one of which I caught a mid-air shot of a humpback whale. We could hear the whales calling while we were snorkeling, check out the video at the bottom.

A stilt in flight	Appears to be a swan goose, which is a native of China. A domesticated escapee I guess?	A pacific golden plover. Every year this guy flies non-stop from Alaska to Hawaii for the winter.
