Birds About
Aug 2006 - Colonial Virginia

This is the continuation of our trip to Virginia. We left the rolling hills of western Virginia for the coastal settlements of Jamestown, Williamsburg, and York. At Jamestown is a replica of the site of an early pilgrim landing which hopefully you remember from US history. My favorite part were the ships. I would love to sail one of those! Williamsburg is a living history thing of life prior to the Revolutionary War. And York is the location of what is generally considered to be the battle that won the Revolutionary War.

Some freak storm destroyed all of the British boats, and since they were backed up to the sea they were unable to escape and surrendered.
