One of the things in the area we were most excited to check out was the rocket center in Huntsville. We'd previously been to the space center in Florida (pictures
), but I'd say that the Huntsville station was definitely worth going to even after having been to Florida. We had a great time and saw some cool rockets.
The first rocket we saw!

Perhaps the coolest thing at the rocket center: an upright full-size model of a Saturn V rocket

It was huge!

A Saturn V. Not the first one I've seen, but impressive every time.

The only part to come back

Doing the astronaut walk down the model entry ramp. Super fun!

Inside a model of the Apollo CM. It was really neat.

The model lunar lander is super cool, and the model lunar surface elt surprisingly realistic

A trainer for the first U.S. space station (skylab)
|
The Atlas rocket - the U.S.'s first ICBM, and also the rocket used for the later Mercury missions. It's shockingly small after you've looked at the Saturn V.

A space shuttle lower assembly. There used to be a model of the actual shuttle on top which would be super cool, but it's apparently being refurbished.
|
Trying out the multi-axis trainer
|
Afterwards - it was not nearly as nausea-inducing as I'd expected it to be

Trying out space ice cream for the first time. Not that kinda good.
