Jun 2006 - Washington DC
This is actually a compilation of three trips, but since they were very similar and all within a week of eachother, I've joined them. The first was a trip to a Franciscan Monastery and a Catholic Basilica. The second was a trip to the National Cathedral. And the third was a trip to the temple down in DC. All visits to beautiful religious buildings.
The Franciscan Monastery is a real monastery with real monks. This was a beauitful place, both the building itself and its surrounding gardens. So the purpose of the monastery is to bring the Holy Land (Jerusalem) to America. The monastery itself is a giant replica of a monestary that overlies the tomb of Christ and the hill Golgotha. They also have replicas of some grottos and Roman catacombs. Very cool, I definitely recommend.
